The annual Design History Society Conference is a prestigious, international event, which offers a platform for an interdisciplinary approach to research and critical debate in design history. Each year the conference is hosted by a different convening institution that works closely with the Society to organise the conference on a theme chosen by the convenor.
This year, from September 7th to September 9th the distinguished event is hosted by ESAD College of Art and Design in Matosinhos, Portugal. The College is one of the most important players in the world of design and offers degrees arts, master's in design, several postgraduate courses, an open training programme. The annual conference aims to bring together and offer a forum for emerging and established scholars, museum professionals and design practitioners who engage with debates on cultures of design from both contemporary and historical perspectives.

Molteni&C is pleased to report the appointment for:
Aldo Rossi. Design 1960-1997. A Conversation Through Disciplines
Magda Seifert in conversation with Chiara Spangaro, Morris Adjmi and Francesca Molteni.

The exhibition Aldo Rossi. Design 1960-1997 presented at the Museo del Novecento in Milan in 2021, allows to revisit the history and legacy of Aldo Rossi’s product design in its entirety, from the sixties to his passing in 1997. The three different sides of this story – the historical/critical one, that of the exhibition designer, and the video/ documentary one – raise a series of questions that will will be discussed during the panel.

Magda Seifert
Director of Porto Design Biennale and part of the esad—idea team. Architect graduated from the University School of Arts of Coimbra (2006). Between 2014 and 2016, she collaborated with the Canadian Center for Architecture Álvaro Siza’s archive transfer to this institution. In 2015-17, with Luís Tavares Pereira and Bruno Baldaia, she commissioned the 5th edition of Habitar Portugal. Between 2010 and 2014, she was part of the Ordem dos Arquitectos team, working directly with the board. Founder and director of Circo de Ideias, a cultural association.

Chiara Spangaro
Art historian and independent curator, directing Fondazione Aldo Rossi and advising Archivio Giovanni Gastel. With Germano Celant, she served in the Art / Architecture department of Triennale di Milano and was his associated curator in more than 15 exhibitions. She curated MelissaMcGill: The Campi and Red Regatta, Gio Ponti. Archi-designer, Vera Rossi.

Morris Adjmi
Architects (MA) is a multidisciplinary design practice that provides a comprehensive approach to architecture, interior design, placemaking, and art services. Inspired by art, history and context, the award-winning firm has designed over 2.5 million m² of built space in more than 25 cities throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Francesca Molteni
Graduated in Philosophy at the Università degli Studi in Milan, studied Film Production at New York University. Since 2002, she produces and directs documentaries, tv formats, videos and installations, and curates design exhibitions. In 2009 she founded MUSE Factory of Projects, a production company based in Milan, particularly focusing on contemporary design and architecture culture.
